We're the Hanson family — a missionary family planted in Santa Cruz, Portugal. We make disciples, plant home churches, and raise up leaders to carry the gospel across an unreached nation.

From the call to the field
Who we are

From bondage to freedom — and sent.

Robert and Jenni both knew bondage — drugs, alcohol, lives that served only themselves — before they met the Jesus who breaks every chain.

In 2008, Robert and Jenni heard the Lord call them to Portugal — but the road from calling to going was long. For sixteen years He prepared them: refining their character, founding their marriage on the Rock, and teaching them how to build community and minister in a small-town context. They gave up the American dream to walk in obedience. In 2024, with their six children, they finally arrived in Santa Cruz — and they're still here, helping people find real freedom in the living Christ, the One who still heals the sick, opens blind eyes, and sets the captive free.

An unreached corner of an unreached nation.

Portugal is a post-Catholic nation in the 10/40 window — counted among the least-reached peoples on earth. Less than half of one percent are evangelical believers.

In Santa Cruz and the wider Torres Vedras region, a handful of small fellowships are quietly holding on — faithful people we honor and long to see flourish. Yet for a region of this size, a vibrant, growing gospel witness is almost entirely absent. So many here are spiritually hungry — weary of empty religion, reaching into the new age for something real and living. We believe the harvest is ripe, and that the time for Portugal is now.

We're returning to the church of the book of Acts — small gatherings meeting through the week in homes to worship, pray, study the Word, share meals, and stir up the gifts of the Spirit.

What we do

The work, day to day.

Discipleship is our heartbeat — many groups each week, one-on-one and together. Everything else flows from it.

Praying for the sick to be healed and the oppressed to be set free — deep healing of the whole person.

Equipping leaders

Helping believers find their gifts and callings, then propelling them out into them.

Tres Dias

Planting a three-day renewal ministry to strengthen believers and send them out alive in Christ.

Together

We labor shoulder to shoulder with all true believers.

The harvest is too great for division. We're for the whole body of Christ — every church, every worker, every gift — pulling together for Portugal.
